Despite the fact that the Secretary General of Hezbollah Al Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah emphasized that he will devote his words to the religious occasion represented by the middle of Sha’ban. He discussed a set of titles that have never been discussed that way and which are related to the deep cultural, intellectual and existential questions posed by the domination of Corona on humanity, individuals, groups, beliefs, systems, and regimes. The humanity has witnessed events that changed its track in science through inventions, discoveries, and scientific revolutions, and during world and regional wars and in diseases and in epidemics and led to the emergence of philosophy and beliefs that have their enormous influences in quantity and quality during that time. But, it has never happened before that a phenomenon has preoccupied all humanity at the same time over the entire globe area and became its main concern, it has not differentiated between generations, races, young or old, men or women, poor or rich, educated or uneducated, rulers or ruled since all of them feel incapable, weak, impotent, and confused along with the feeling of paralysis and freezing for months despite all scientific and governmental efforts.
The path of humanity has been always governed with the seeking to get rid of the feeling of weakness and to employ science, money, and power to remove this feeling which has frightened the people since the beginning of history, however, the illusion of getting rid of this feeling has led people to tyranny. The rushing to money was the basis of greed not only because it is a mean to enjoy the graces of life but also a mean to repress its pressures and to avoid its dangers. Now it does not benefit its owners to achieve neither enjoyment nor the feeling of power. The conflict on power has been always limited with the ability to control the sources of danger, power, and wealth to achieve the highest control over destines. Now this power does not benefit in anything neither in economy which some people have refused to stop its cycle nor in the personal and public safety. This virus is sweeping thousands and killing hundreds, even a ruler himself does not know if he will be one of its victims despite his possession of the nuclear war which he long thought that it is the highest level of danger so he put it under control. Even science which is the revealer of the mysteries of universe, nature, and the best way to confront calamities and which people thought that it can grant them the sovereignty over their destinies and the destinies of others is incapable while the virus is killing the virologists and doctors along with the feeling of inability to understand what is going on.
One of the advantages of Corona is that it imposes paralysis on human beings contrary to the major events through which people were continuing their life in. This complete paralysis makes mediation along with impotence, fear, and weakness an opportunity to think, evaluate, and to get results the most important of which was indicated by Al Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah as a wrong conclusion that must be discussed “to link between the faith in Creator and the feeling of weakness and to link between the illusion of lack of this feeling and the reason to abandon God”. After faith has returned to its basis as a deep recognition of inability, the religiosity has been reconsidered as a moral rhythm controller among human beings, it is not the religiosity which divides people and spreads hatred among them and incites wars and killing, but rather it deters every harm and prevents the investment of science in a way that harms nature, environment and human being. The real religiosity encourages the employment of the human mind to achieve more of well-being, goodness, and health within the controls of morals and values; it calls to what contributes in controlling the economy in the standards of goodness, fighting poverty, injustice, monopoly, and exploitation, and spreading justice. This leads us to a question related to the time of Corona: what is the benefit of money, science, and power to the people to ensure that they are from the survivors and to get fortified by having control over the sources of danger and the power.
When Al Sayyed linked his words with the doctrine of the reappearance of Al-Mahdi, he did not neglect to tell people how to work according to a criterion to confront this real challenge, he did not present metaphysical or religious challenge, but rather he considered that being closer from these issues can heal the wounds of people and their seeking for goodness, secure the decent life and provide the reasons of steadfastness to their families waiting for the success of humankind in finding a remedy and a prevention to get out of this dark tunnel.
Al Sayyed Nasrallah’s words were an attempt to meet the major questions sweeping humanity due to the big change caused by this global pandemic and an attempt to build on concepts which based on goodness, modesty, and action. On the Lebanon level, the criteria of choosing a person for the public affairs in Lebanon is no longer based on the criteria of the past where the authority is for the one who possesses money and money for the one who is in power. It is a call to think narrowly from within the wider human thought of a new global system, which means a new Lebanese system that will born from confronting the challenge of Corona pandemic. Today the fate of the future of the role of those who own money as well as the fate of the old leaderships will be decided, along with the future of the role of intellectuals, civil society organizations, and the future of the parties, as well as the criteria of establishing governments. The people who live this difficult ordeal must get out of it with a lot of new things.
